#5 - 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek

The 2014 Kia Cadenza wins "The Big Test: Full-Size Sedans"!

According to Motortrend, the 2014 Kia Cadenza is the "full-size sedan champ"!  It is strong in all of the categories that matter most:  ride comfort, interior space, performance, and fuel economy.  It also has features that could rival an $80k BMW's and value that places it above its full-size competitors.

1st Place:  Kia Cadenza
A huge value proposition, solid fuel efficiency, near-luxury ride, pretty sheetmetal make the Kia the near-unanimous choice for first place.

2nd Place:  Chevrolet Impala
Despite a few flaws, the Impala offers a well-thought-out package at a reasonable cost.  This is a solid step forward for…

The 2014 Kia Forte Wins "The Big Test: Compact Sedans"!

According to Motor Trend Magazine, the 2014 Kia Forte was picked as the best all-around car after weighing the contender in each category against what what would best serve the average compact car buyer.  The Forte's combination of performance, fuel efficiency, reasonable pricing, and endless feature list had their judges agreeing it's the best car in this class.

5th Place:  Nissan Sentra
Poor handling, poor fuel economy, and a shorter feature list outweigh a low price and big back seat.

4th Place:  Honda Civic
A weak drivetrain, poor fuel economy, and frustrating nav system sank a solid…

Volkswagen Passat named KBB's #1 Sedan under $25000

Finally roomy and affordable enough to compete side-by-side with midsize sedan stalwarts like Honda Accord and Toyota Camry, the all-new Volkswagen Passat is Kelly Blue Book's 2012 pick as the best sedan under $25,000 in large part because it still drives like a smaller, pricier car.

The 2012 Volkswagen Passat sedan has grown substantially to appeal to North American sensibilities, but even though it's now a larger car, the new Passat is…

2012 Motor Trend Car of the Year: Volkswagen Passat

Granted, from 50 feet or in a two-dimensional photograph, the Passat engages the eye less than does the splashy "fluidic design" of the Hyundai Sonata, but closer inspection reveals exquisite detailing. Our own expert witness, Tom Gale, gets the ball rolling: "The package provides good accommodation, and like the Audi [A6], what is remarkable is the restraint shown with the handling of the design. Clean, beautiful surfaces have been refined for an engaging result. The upper character line, with its subtle undercut, is an example of the care taken with the stampings throughout." Engineering guru Chris Theodore…
